Using Life Insurance in Settlement Planning and Retirement Planning.

Article in Wall Street Journal on improved life insurance pricing for elderly clients.

Today's Wall Street Journal, section D1, had an interesting discussion on the improved pricing on life insurance for older insured, and how the underwriting standards have improved as well.

As an expert in Settlement Planning and retirement planning I often hear from older clients that they would like insurance, but they believe they are too old. The fact is that major companies such as AXA Financial, Hartford Financial Services, Principal Financial Group and Prudential have dramatically improved their offerings.

For example you can now obtain life insurance up to a maximum age of 85, when years ago most tables stopped offering to insured once they hit 75. Also, many of the companies are aggressively underwriting insureds who have had cancers such as prostate and breast cancer, as well as certain types of coronary artery disease.

If you have a need for insurance and had felt that you couldn't be covered, you owe it to yourself to contact a settlement planner or life insurance underwriter to go over your situation and determine if you should take another look at obtaining coverage.
